The Civil Rights Cold Case Project is an investigative journalism project that brings together professional journalists who examine unsolved racially-motivated civil rights-era murder across the South, primarily in Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama. The project has had support from the Center for Investigative Reporting and Paperny Films.

The Cold Case Justice Initiative is a Syracuse University School of Law project to research and seek justice in civil rights cold cases. The initiative includes a research-intensive course, public events, and information sharing about the unresolved cases.

The Civil Rights and Restorative Justice Project of the Northeastern University School of Law is a research and public policy initiative that seeks to expose and overturn miscarriages of justice and supports anti-civil rights violence efforts.

The United States Department of Justice Cold Case Initiative is an effort by the U.S. Department of Justice, in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Southern Poverty Law Center, National Urban League, and National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, to re-open and investigate unsolved, racially-motivated, civil rights-era murders in the United States.

The civil rights Cold Case Project at the Louisiana State University’s Manship School of Mass Communication engages seniors and graduate students in conducting investigative research they then provide to newspapers and television stations in Louisiana and south Mississippi.
